The Town of Lillington offers a considerably low cost of living to its residents. The Town lowered the tax rate four cents per $100 valuation making Lillington the lowest taxed municipality in Harnett County. In addtion the Town does not have a fire tax district as the other Towns do. The low cost of living along with the relatively short distance between Lillington and surrounding metro areas are two factors that have led to a large number of residents commuting to the Raleigh, Fayetteville, and Fort Bragg areas.
