Transportation Geography

Driving times to central Raleigh is 45 minutes and approximately 35 minutes to Fayetteville.

Click here for a highway map. Major state highways run through Lillington to provide direct links with every part of the state. US 401 provides a north-south link, US 421 an eat-west link; and State Highways 27 and 210 provide similar direct connections. Interstate 95 runs north and south along the eastern edge of the county 16 miles east of Lillington and Interstate 40 runs east and west, connecting with I-95.

In addition to direct private vehicle access, the Norfolk Southern Railroad operates through the town.

The Harnett County Airport is located five miles east of town, is lighted and has a 3,700 foot runway. Raleigh-Durham International Airport is located 40 miles northwest. RDU offers commercial freight-handling services to the world.
